win of the season when they beat Commando Bullets 2-1 in a Zifa Northern Region Division One match at One Commando on Saturday.
Mwale, who was on the verge of rejoining DeMbare this season before being frustrated by the Glamour Boys, crossed the floor to join ambitious Highfield United after failing to secure a contract.
He made his presence felt when he equalised for Highfield United soon after the breather before Isaac Madziva sealed the match four minutes from time.
The win came as a huge relief for the side and team manager Wilson Mutekede believes they have passed the tricky stage of settling in Division One and they are ready to roll.
Highfield had only one point, going into this match, when they drew 1-1 with Flame Lily.
“It’s unfortunate that we started slowly this season but it’s something that you expect when you have youngsters.
“These guys have been playing some good entertaining football but missing out on finishing.
“We want to build a young team and make sure that we win matches and I am glad that it’s beginning to pay off,” said Mutekede.
Highfield – who have a youthful squad – have been impressive with neat build-ups but scoring had proved a tall order for their inexperienced strikers.
The team had acquired a number of seasoned players during the off-season but they loaned them to Premiership clubs.
They own players such as Dynamos goalkeeper Washington Arubi, and Murape Murape, FC Platinum’s Benjamin Marere and the Black Mambas duo of Peter Ndlovu and Fortune Ncube.
The club then turned to the seasoned Zambian forward Mwale for goals and he did not disappoint on Satur- day.
Mwale put up a fine show and scored an equaliser after his side found themselves trailing Commando Bullets to an Eddie Nyika first half strike.
Madziva scored the winner four minutes from time to ensure that Highfield got their first set of three points this season.
At Trojan, Mwana Africa bounced back to winning ways following last weeks’ 2-0 defeat to Barca when they dispatched Eiffel Flats 1-0 in a tightly contested affair pitting former Premiership teams.
La Liga maintained their pole position after a goalless draw against Harare City at Dzivarasekwa.
La Liga are yet to lose a match and they are on top of the table with 14 points along with Rhinos who were held to a 0-0 draw by Dstv.
