HIP hop artistes, producers and models from Bulawayo will tomorrow afternoon converge at the Rainbow Cinemas City 4 for a promotional show targeted at high school students. Dubbed: “For You to Enjoy”, the show, which is being organised by Star Open Mic Set & Ambush, has been slated to kick off at 3PM with people expected to pay $3 to enter.

The event will see hip hop artistes including POY, KLAP, Mc Tytoh, OzzBit, VFR, Beezyraps, Krusty, DHHGG, Psycoteck, K Hood Cartel, FC Army and Mzoe 7 from House Rebels, performing. One of the city’s finest DJs, Mark Vusani will be on the decks entertaining people.

Speaking ahead of the show, POY (real name Nicholas Machinguri) said the show was being held to give school-going youth who are below the clubbing age a chance to witness their musicians performing live.

“We realised that those who go to high school rarely watch us performing live because they are not allowed to enter night clubs – where we mostly perform.

“So we decided to hold a show on a Friday afternoon to give them a chance to watch us perform,” he said.

POY said the show mostly had hip hop artistes with Alaina adding a different flavour as she is an R’n’B artiste.

“The show will be more on the hip hop side, but there will be arts groups, dancers, fashion designers and models also doing their thing. We want people, especially youths to be exposed to our local artistes and designers,” he said.

Show organiser Pritchard “Teeko” Kasomali, who is also a hip hop artiste, said they hoped to promote hip hop in the city through the hosting of the event.

“The show will hopefully promote the movement of hip hop in the city so that it grows and spreads to the whole country,” he said.

Teeko, who is also on the line up of performers, said they had included models on the programme as they are part of the hip hop music industry.

“Models are also in the music industry because they are a part of us. When we shoot music videos, we go to various modelling agencies to source models to beautify the music videos. We have included them on our programme to feature as part of the hip hop family,” he said.
