The Vista formerly Horizon Bar and Restaurant in Bulawayo

AFTER shutting down last month, popular nightspot, Horizon Pub and Restaurant has been rebranded to The Vista and will reopen on Friday.

Situated on the mezzanine floor (between ground and first floor) of Pioneer House, The Vista will be a pub and restaurant opening daily from midday closing at 11.30PM.

Proprietors of Horizon approached radio station, Skyz Metro FM whom they share a building with to help them rebrand. This partnership saw one of the radio station’s presenters Possenti Sikosana being given a management role – operations manager – at the rebranded bar.

Said Sikosana: “On Friday, we’re launching The Vista to the public. There’re a few touch ups here and there as the place has been refurbished. We’ve also done away with the cover charge and have introduced a smart dress code for entry.”

Temporarily, the bar has done away with DJs though indications are that some will be hired later on.

“In terms of music, there won’t be any DJs playing as the music will be played from a surround system. Later on in the year, we’ll have DJs as need be. We want people to come back to the spot because of the ambience that it is known for,” said Sikosana.

He said various dishes will be on offer such as burgers, steaks, pork chops, fish platters, salads and vegetarian meals.

The Vista’s opening marks the end of an era for Horizon, which was once the place to be in Bulawayo. Horizon has in the past played host to memorable shows with high profile South African artistes Black Coffee, DJ Tira, Oskido, DJ Fresh, DJ Zinhle Kent, hip hop group Tear Gas, house duo Liquid Deep and Naak Musiq having wowed patrons.

It remains to be seen if the rebranded joint will keep the momentum going.
