GOLD miners How Mine FC will this week finally unveil their head coach, largely expected to be Zambian Kelvin Kaindu.

The miners have been under co-caretaker coaches Sheunesu Chaka and Jeremiah Makota since the sacking of the nomadic Luke Masomere last season.

How Mine chairman Paul Mac Andrew yesterday told Chronicle Sport that all major issues to do with contractual obligations had been met and their man will start work this week.

He, however, still remained coy about the identity of his new head coach, saying he wants him to first put pen to paper.

“We’ll be signing our coach this week, that you can be assured of, but I’ll not reveal his name until we’ve his signature and I’m very certain that it’ll be this week,” said Mac Andrew.

Kaindu is believed to have agreed personal terms with the miners and has since informed his present employers Triangle United that he is willing to buy out his contract. His deal with the Lowveld side is due to expire at the end of the 2016 season.

Sources close to the deal said the Zambian, who came into the country as Highlanders’ coach in 2012, will take along his trusted lieutenants Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu and goalkeepers’ coach Tembo Chuma.

The gold miners had an unforgettable 2015 season where they were almost relegated from the topflight despite having raided the market before the start of the season. They finished the season on 11th position with 35 points.

They were pre-season championship favourites after acquiring a number of veteran players such as former Dynamos’ skipper Tawanda Muparati, 2010 Soccer Star of the Year Charles Sibanda, Tapuwa Kumbuyani and Gilbert Banda.

Mac Andrew’s executive has released most of the veterans and replaced them with youngsters from the club’s juniors.
