GOLDMINERS How Mine FC are hopeful of a win against city rivals Highlanders FC in a match billed for Barbourfields Stadium tomorrow afternoon. Mlondolozi Nkomo, How Mine’s chairman, said his team would put up a good fight. “It’s a derby game and surprises are usual, but we will put our best in it and hope for a win. “So far so good the guys are geared up and I would like to believe that they will put up a good fight against Bosso on Sunday,” said Nkomo yesterday.

Since coming into the topflight league last season, How Mine will be meeting Highlanders for the fifth time. Chikurupati as they are affectionally known by their legion of supporters, lost to Bosso in their first league encounter this season in the absence of head coach Philani Ncube who was away for an advanced coaching clinic.
In tomorrow’s encounter Ncube’s presence on the sidelines might be a boost to the Chikurupati boys.

Last season How Mine managed a league double over Bulawayo giants but lost 3-0 in the Mbada Diamond Cup final at the end of the 2013 season.
How Mine have had four consecutive league losses after their 1-2 loss to Highlanders and 0-1 to Black Rhinos. Before these two matches they had lost as many to derail their championship hopes.

Tomorrow they will be without influential midfielder Xolani “Scara” Moyo who is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards.
The miners carry a psychological advantage going into tomorrow’s match having beaten Highlanders 4-3 in the NetOne One Wallet quarter-finals recently.
Despite their not so good position on the table, Ncube’s ingenuity on the bench cannot be discounted and he boasts a balanced side as well.

In Gilbert Banda, Ephraim Mazarura who went with the Warriors to the Afcon Finals in 2004 and 2006, Nyasha Mukumbi, George Magariro, Menard Mupera and former Masvingo United and DeMbare’s Wonder Sithole, he has the right mix to cause Bosso anxious moments.

The gold miners will also be putting their hopes on the second leading top marksman Kudakwashe Musharu whose confidence was this week boosted by PSL’s announcement that he had scooped the April and May PSL Player of the Month award worth $1,000.

How Mine who lost Benjamin Marere to FC Platinum and Terrence Majo to Shabanie have brought in Tendai Nyamande to bolster their attack.
Highlanders’ Kelvin Kaindu could not divulge if he would field his new signings Webster Chingodza, Pasca Manhanga, Njabulo Bvunzawabaya Ncube and Munyaradzi King Nadolo.

“We have a strong side even though we have some players who are injured, and I am sure we will put everything into the game and hope for the best. It’s a game of soccer and I cannot talk of a win before the match is played. How Mine is a strong side and we are going to play to get maximum points,” said Kaindu.
Kaindu said he has 30 players and was not yet in a position to disclose if he was going to field any new signings in the team.

Chicken Inn travel to Caps United with Buffaloes entertaining Shabanie Mine.
Dynamos will travel to Black Rhinos eager to continue with their pursuit of a fourth consecutive title.

Should they go all the way to grab it, this would be the second time they achieve that feat after their run of 1980-83.  Highlanders did it in 1998/9-2002.
