HOW Mine failed to build on their 3-1 crushing of Caps United last week when they were held to a goalless draw by ZPC Kariba in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

The gold miners demolished the league champions in Harare last week and were hoping to continue in that vein yesterday, but they failed to come to the party.

Coach Kelvin Kaindu said nothing worked for them despite trying several formations during the match.

The home team finished the match with 10 men after Stephen Nyambabvu was shown a red card in the 88th minute for a second bookable offence.

Despite the match being evenly balanced, there were few clear cut chances created by both sides.

ZPC Kariba’s Samuel Makawa missed a chance to beat How Mine’s Munyaradzi Diya in the 70th minute when he fumbled the ball inside the box after being set up by Limited Chikafa from the right flank.

Diya made another crucial save in the 76th minute by punching Never Tigere’s blistering shot that was headed for the top left corner.

In the 81st minute, Kuda Musharu shook off ZPC Kariba players in the middle of the park and released Peter “Rio” Moyo, who found an unmarked Toto Banda advancing towards goal, but he skied his effort when it looked easier to hit the target.

Kaindu felt his side was completely off-form.

“I can’t single out anyone, but I think the whole team was just not clicking today. We tried several formations during the match, but we didn’t come to the party and I think we have to even thank God for that point because we didn’t deserve it. We were not ourselves today,” said Kaindu.

ZPC Kariba coach, Sunday Chidzambwa was satisfied getting a point away from home.
