IMBUBE group Impumelelo Shining Stars will celebrate their 15 years in the music industry on Saturday with the launch of their eighth album – Avulekil’ Amazulu. The celebrations being held in the Bulawayo city centre, between Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street and Jason Moyo along 8th Ave will be a free event as the group wants to show appreciation to those who have supported them over the years.

Oscar Siziba, the group’s spokesperson said the latest offering was a feel good album and a testimony of their journey in the music industry. “The album has a lot of messages of hope with songs such as Peace in the World, African Pride and Home Sweet Home,” said Siziba. He said the album was as timeless as the Imbube genre itself.

“Imbube music isn’t dead and it’s here to stay. Imbube is the only type of music in Africa that took a Grammy Award through Lady Smith Black Mambazo showing that the music is of high quality and is accepted anywhere in the world,” said Siziba.

The album will be sold for $5. Previous albums by the talented group include Emthonjeni, Uhlaleleni, Umhlaba uyajikajika, Ngeke Ehluleke, Nomalanga and Love One Another.

Last year, the group recorded a live DVD of songs from their different albums at the Bulawayo Amphitheatre. One of the highlights of their 15-year-long career is when they featured South Africa’s imbube legend Joseph Shabalala of Black Mambazo on their 2012 album – Amaqhinga Aphelile.
