LOCAL imbube/isichathamiya group Impumelelo Shining Stars celebrated their 15th anniversary in style by launching their 8th album titled Avulekile Amazulu.

The album comes with 13 tracks which they performed  much to the amusement of an audience gathered at an open space between 8th Avenue and Jason Moyo Street in Bulawayo on Saturday.

The leader of Mpumelelo Shining Stars, Oscar Siziba, said the title of their album was inspired by the hope that the future holds.

“We launched our 8th album which is a testimony of our long stay in the music industry. We’re still optimistic that the future is bright,” he said.
Siziba said the album was meant to encourage their fans to look to the future with optimism.

During the launch, which was well attended, the imbube group sampled some tracks from their new offering, which include Home sweet home, Avulekile Amasango and African Pride.

Siziba said for the past 15 years they have gone through a lot of trials and tribulations, which have moulded them to be the music gladiators they are today.

“For the past 15 years there were serious challenges we went through as a group. We have had a lot of financial hiccups, which saw other members pursuing greener pastures. But this has not deterred the remaining members from working towards what we are celebrating today,” he said.
Siziba said they managed to stay together through prayer, patience and practice.

Also present during the album launch was Bulawayo Provincial Minister of State Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo who said the album had a significant message.

“This is a very informative music album which gives our people hope. This is the type of culturally constructive music that we want to listen to,” she said.
