The ill-informed decision by the MDC-T to try to stall the debate on the Constitutional Bill because the party fears elections is misplaced. The MDC-T should realise that Zimbabwe does have a constitution, which it is currently using, the Lancaster House constitution.

May 3 was in 1993 set aside by the United Nations as the World Press Freedom Day. This is a day when journalists throughout the world review their working conditions, legislation impeding their operations and the occupational hazards, which over the years has resulted in the death of journalists while on duty, among other issues.

Zimbabweans at all levels should take seriously calls for peace before, during and after the forthcoming harmonised elections. President Mugabe has been leading the crusade to preach the gospel of peace and this is how serious the Government is taking the issue of maintaining the prevailing peace and tranquility. Calls for peace have also come from the judiciary, the police, the army, the political leadership and the church.
