THE Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has deployed Colonel Solomon Siziba to 1 Infantry Brigade in Bulawayo as the deputy commander.
In a statement, 1 Brigade public relations officer Captain Richard Mhizha said Col Siziba was posted with effect from 1 September.

He takes over from Colonel Brave Matavire who has since been moved to the ZNA Headquarters in Harare.
Col Matavire has been the brigade’s deputy commander since 2009.

Col Siziba, a liberation war veteran was attested into the ZNA in 1981 and rose through the ranks to the present rank.

He served in the military in different capacities which include Battalion Adjutant with 1:8 Infantry Battalion, the Administrative Staff Officer Grade Three, Two and One in different units such as the Conditions of Service at ZNA Headquarters, the Personnel Officer

SADC in DRC , the Commanding Officer 4:3 Infantry Battalion, the Administrative Staff Officer Personnel Service before he was assigned as the Defence Advisor to the Ambassador of Zimbabwe in Botswana between 2005 and this year.

Col Siziba is a highly decorated soldier with several honours and awards such as the Independence Medal, Liberation Medal, 10 years Services Medal, Long and Exemplary Medal and the Mozambican Campaign Medal.

Other awards are the DRC Campaign Medal, Commander of the Zimbabwe Order of Merit.
Col Siziba undewent several military courses commensurate with his rank.

He is also a holder of a Masters of Business Administration Degree.
