HIGH scoring table toppers Inline Academy will meet their match when they clash with Street Set in the Zifa Southern Region Women’s Football League at Masotsha High School this morning.

Inline Academy have scored an incredible 41 goals in five matches, the last 34 coming in their past two games while conceding none in the process. It’s a record that can send any opponent into a freeze mode, but not Street Set’s leading goalscorer Faith Mpofu.

“We don’t care that they scored 27 goals past Sobukhazi last week, that was them and we’re Street Set. We’re ready for them. They haven’t conceded but they haven’t played us,” said a confident Mpofu who has so far scored four goals.

Inline Academy will miss the Mighty Warriors’ duo of Nobuhle Majika and Rejoice Kapfumvuti who are in camp in Bindura with the Rio Olympics bound squad.

Other players to look forward to for Street Set include skipper Shantel Ncube and goalkeeper Moreblessing Kunjenjema, spotted in Mutare by club director Lee Mangena.

Inline Academy coach Boga Ndebele said women football has improved and they will work hard to get a win.

“Women’s football has improved. There are no longer underdogs and in football there are no easy games. We will give it our best,” said Ndebele.

In Pumula North, Highlanders Royals will drive there like lambs heading for a slaughter house as they visit Hearts of Oak that drilled eight goals past Blackboots goalkeeper in their backyard last Saturday.

Coached by Evans Netha, formerly with Cowdray Park, Hearts of Oak will be driven by the likes of Happy Gumbo, Peace Kenende, Thabita Mpofu, Nobukhosi Faith Ndlovu and Charity Ndiweni.

Morale in the Highlanders Royals is low due to lack of sponsorship after the main club leadership made it clear that it has no muscle to run the ladies’ team and efforts by some female Highlanders members to come on board were frustrated.

New Orleans will take on Cowdray Park at Matshayisikhova while matches involving Hwange Ladies and Sobukhazi as well as Magwegwe and Blackboots were postponed.

Magwegwe are taking part in a schools’ tournament.
