A POLICEMAN was left nursing a big wound after he was allegedly stabbed by an intruder. Tiyapo Ndebele, 24, a policeman based at Nkulumane Police Station in Bulawayo has some difficulties walking after he was allegedly stabbed on his right thigh by Brighton Ncube. Ncube, 21, appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube charged for unlawful entry, theft and assault. He was not
asked to plead and remanded in custody to August 6.

Prosecuting Kingstone Mkanganwi said Ncube entered the policeman’s house without the owner’s consent.
“Ncube broke into Ndebele’s house in the middle of the night and stole cash amounting to $50,” he said.

The court heard that on July 1, at around 2AM, Ncube forcibly opened Ndebele’s kitchen door with an iron bar. He entered the house and stole a $50 note which was on top of a room divider. The intruder made some noise and disturbed Ndebele’s sleep who realised that there was a stranger in his house.
Ndebele chased after Ncube and caught up with him about 30 metres from his house.

The two fought, but Ndebele was overpowered and stabbed with a knife on his right thigh. He sustained a big, deep cut.
Ncube fled the scene and a neighbour took Ndebele to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.
