comprises three sections namely Investigations, Research and Development (R&D) and International Affairs.
The division is specifically responsible for the following:
l promotion (nation-wide) of compliance with all tax laws and ensuring that the monetary targets are achieved through the recovery of lost revenue
l acts as the liaison body between ZIMRA and the outside world
l coordinates regional/international affairs and ZIMRA representation at various regional/international forums.
Achievements:
l Surpassing the revenue collection targets.
l Uncovered tax evasion and Customs fraud schemes mainly in the following areas: transfer pricing, cash economy, removals in transit/bonds, temporary importation permits for vehicles, capital gains arising from share swaps and company mergers, among others.
l Promoted international relations with other revenue authorities in the region (particularly Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, South Africa and Mauritius) in mutual exchange of information.
l Several cases were investigated and payments made to whistle blowers.
l Researched and piloted the implementation of various tax reforms notably VAT, Self Assessment, Presumptive Tax and Road Tolls.
Currently, the division is intensifying efforts to continue building capacity so that ZIMRA can effectively deal with investigations of complex international transactions and fraud cases.
HOST OF CHOICE . . . Zimbabwe has become a host of choice for international and regional conferences.
