Inxusa festival preps underway Cont Mhlanga

PREPARATIONS for the annual Inxusa Theatre Festival are at an advanced stage with Matopo High School and Tshelanyemba High School set to kick-start the four day theatre extravaganza at Amakhosi Cultural Centre.

The festival, which seeks to preserve the fast-dwindling theatre production and audiences in the country, will be running under the theme Emerging Cultures from March 25 to 28.

Women in Theatre and Midlands State University (MSU) will also stage their plays on the first day of the festival among 20 plays which will be showcased during the festival.

“High schools namely Matopo, Tshelanyemba, JZ Moyo, Tongwe High, Khalanyoni and Sikhathini will showcase their plays together with universities such as MSU, Lupane State University, University of Botswana and University of Zambia,” festival director – Cont Mhlanga said.

During the festival, veteran arts practitioners will share their expertise in the film and theatre industry with professional theatre companies, Savanna Trust, Women in Theatre, Studio X and Home Grown Arts, as well as Iyasa and Amakhosi Arts academy set to perform.
