INSPIRED by the cancellation of the John Legend show in Harare, people have taken to social media networks with hilarious lyrics, videos and internet memes to mock organisers and the musician over the failed show.Legend cancelled the November 16, Harare show this week under unclear circumstances. No solid reason was given for the cancellation leaving people with no option but to come up with their own reasons.

Comedians, Carl Joshua Ncube, Q the Boss and musician Mudiwa Hood were among those who used their comic skills to mock Legend.

The hit track Ordinary People had its lyrics remixed by Ncube to suggest that maybe Legend cancelled his show because “we are just ordinary people?” A comic picture with two characters asking Legend if he had cancelled the Zimbabwe show because they are ordinary people was also created to go with the remixed lyrics.

Ncube took to Twitter and said: “John Legend cancels Harare show and adds new show in Joburg #thisLEGENDain’tLOYAL.”

“Does anyone know where I can hire a grand piano, I am going to do a ZIM version of a John Legend concert on the 29th of November.”
“I’m thinking of doing a PARODY All Of Me Stand Up Comedy show to fill the void where John Legend was supposed to perform.”

Local musician Mudiwa Hood remixed the All of me track chorus from All of me loves all of you to All of me laughs all of youuuuu . . .
An Internet meme — catchphrase with a picture, doing the rounds on social networks suggests that Legend cancelled the local show because he did not want Zim dancehall artistes to curtain raise. The meme shows Legend relaxed on a sofa saying: “Mati Killa T naSeh Calaz ma opening acts . . . Handiuyiko!” (Did you say Killa T and Seh Calaz are the opening acts. I am not coming!”

Another meme shared on Twitter by @CynicHarare is written “So, John Legend no longer coming? Dudes busy comforting your women, while inside they be like —>” and attached is a picture of a man dancing showing he is excited that Legend is no longer coming.

Q the Boss could not be outdone as he shot a video blasting organisers for not giving people a satisfactory reason why John Legend cancelled the show. He also said his friends had suggested that artistes Ba Shupi, Legion and himself collaborate on a song titled All of Zim hates all of John Legend.

The Boss also took a swipe at Zimbabweans saying most people who were complaining about the cancellation of the show never made plans to attend the show in the first place.

“Guys let’s be honest . . . hahaha 80% of you complaining about the John Legend concert being cancelled were not going in the first place… #DropsTheMicAndRunsForCover <https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/dropsthemicandrunsforcover>.
