STAR player Bruce Kangwa’s move to cash flush Tanzanian side Azam looks uncertain after Bulawayo giants Highlanders demanded twice the figure the Tanzanians offered for his services.

This could result in Kangwa leaving as a free agent in December when his contract expires.

Azam reportedly offered to buy Kangwa for $25,000 and offered him $20,000 as his signing on fees, but negotiations broke down yesterday between Kangwa’s agent George Deda, who had driven to Bulawayo from Harare for the talks, and the club.

Bosso reportedly want $50,000.

Highlanders’ chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede could not be drawn to comment on the breakdown of talks, only saying they had not engaged Azam.

“We have not started negotiations. All we have are dealings with their agent Deda. We expected him (Kangwa) by the end of the week, but we now expect him on Tuesday as we have been made to believe that they are flying to Dubai,” said Gumede.

Deda confirmed last night that negotiations had started, but the figures were far and wide.

Besides the $20,000 signing on fee, the leading Castle Lager Premier Soccer League goal scorer has reportedly been offered a salary of $5,000 per month.

He has already agreed personal terms with the Tanzanians whose owners have business interests in Zimbabwe. The club also owns its own television station.

To expedite his move to Tanzania, Kangwa, who is owed close to $7,500 in signing on fees plus winning bonuses by Bosso, had agreed to write off the debt as well as the 10 percent which he is entitled to from his move.

With the player turning 29 soon and his contract running out in December, there is a danger of him leaving as a free agent in December.

Milton Ncube and Peter “Rio” Moyo left Bosso as free agents after the Bulawayo giants allegedly turned down a substantial amount from South African side AmaZulu at a time the two players’ contracts were left with two months.
