Named after one of his award-winning songs, “Amai Nga”, the joint, situated at a shopping centre famously known as KwaReuben, opened its doors to the public three weeks ago and is proving to be popular with patrons.
Kapfupi said he decided to open the bar to beef up his music career.
“I have vast experience in bars since they are the venues for most of my performances,” Kapfupi said.
Kapfupi also said the bar was a source of employment for his wife apart from supplementing the money they earned from shows.
A reveller who frequents the place said the bar is the most preferred these days.
“The name on its own is a brand and attracts customers. From the day it opened its doors to the public the bar has been almost everyone’s favourite joint,” said one reveller.
Kapfupi said he decided to name the bar “PaMai Nga iGood One” to promote his business since the phrase had become a household name following the success of his album “Juice Card” which carried the song with that title.
He also said he developed the notion from fellow musicians who own different businesses though he plans to establish a culture centre.
“I am waiting to be allocated a piece of land so that I start my culture centre project as an enterprise in Epworth. I also plan to establish many centres in other parts of the Harare but I will not abandon Epworth because this is my home,” said Kapfupi.
Though Kapfupi is now among artistes who have ventured into business he denies being rich but admitted to be moving from glory to glory.
“I do not want to be considered rich because I am not but I living a better life from this.
“Considering the fact that I started in First Street Mall and today I’ve opened my own business, that surely justifies my being considered a successful artiste,” Kapfupi said.
Kapfupi, who has two employees at the moment, described his business as flourishing and forecasts it (business) putting him in a better position if well managed. Kapfupi is arguably one the most successful artistes inasfar as live performances are concerned in recent years.
