Afro-Jazz musician Alexio Kawara will be in Bulawayo for a performance at the recently opened Cape to Cairo tonight.
The Harare-based artiste who last staged a show in the city three years ago with his Shades of Black band promised fireworks.“I’ve neglected my fans in Bulawayo and owe them a good treat. I promise them nothing but fireworks. It feels great to be coming there as I’ll mingle with my old friends and fans,” said Kawara.

Those who will attend the show will have the privilege to sample some tracks off his forthcoming album — Oyi as well as his hit tracks.

Oyi — a nine track album which features up-and-coming artists Panashe and Jonso and is his sixth, is expected to be released in March.

“I featured up-and-coming artistes on this project as I want to help them grow and get the exposure I got in the industry,” he said.

The Shaina hit-maker who rose to fame when he went solo in 2003 with his album Usazondisiya which has hit songs Kumba kwenyu and the epic Ndinomhanya, has five albums to his name. On his fourth album he worked with Andy Brown, Philip Svosve and Newman Chipeni.

Some of the songs off the upcoming album are Chakaipa which features Roki and Zvazvinhu which features Beitbridge-based LT. Both tracks have been warmly received at his live shows. Another song, Nehana is a potential hit.
