KENYAN President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed security agencies to sink a ship which was seized while carrying drugs in the coastal city of Mombasa.President Kenyatta announced that he will lead security agencies to destroy the heroin valued at about US$11.37 million.

Speaking at this year’s Mombasa International Show, Kenyatta said he does not care who owns the ship or the drugs.

He said the destruction will serve as a lesson to those bent on destroying lives of the youth.

The drugs were seized in July by security agencies who had a tip off by Interpol and US drug reinforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, one of president Uhuru Kenyatta’s official vehicles was stolen from his police driver in Ruai, Nairobi.

The driver, David Machui, was heading to his home at the Ruai Police residential houses after the day’s duties, when he was ambushed by three gunmen.

They stripped him naked and abandoned him in a thicket, before making away with the high-end bulletproof BMW limousine. The car that was bearing a private plate at the time was said to be part of the luxury fleet that carries the President.

State house officials confirmed the incident but denied that it was part of the fleet the president used.

State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu has said the vehicle was used for “police business”. He did not elaborate what police work it was used for.— Xinhua.
