INTERNATIONAL fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is putting final touches on its Bradfield Bulawayo outlet ahead of opening slated for next month.

KFC Bulawayo will be the fifth branch of the American brand which is being franchised in Zimbabwe by Crispy Chicken Restaurants (Pvt) Limited.

KFC has three outlets in Harare and one in Victoria Falls. The food outlet will be situated at Bradfield shopping centre, corner Hillside Road and 23rd Avenue.

“Bulawayo we are getting close to announcing our opening date. Built to the very latest, worldwide KFC specifications and we will be ready in just a few week’s time, can’t wait to see you there,” said KFC in a statement.

Bulawayo residents have expressed excitement with the coming business, which will have to compete with local brands – Chicken Inn and Chicken Slice.

“I’m very happy about KFC finally coming to Bulawayo. I think it was long overdue because we were starved of the quality of their products especially the hot zinger wings. It will change the dynamics of the restaurant industry in the city because the food outlet always satisfies its customers,” said Miss Ndlovu, a city resident.

“This will create employment for the local people and the competition between other food outlets will create the much needed revenue that will be good for the local economy at large.”

KFC closed its operations in Zimbabwe during the economic meltdown in 2007 and reopened in 2014 in Harare. Last year, the Bulawayo City Council received $17 500 from Crispy Chicken restaurants (Pvt) Limited to establish a drive through at Zonk’izizwe Complex in Bradfield.
