LATEST: Mafu appointed Highlanders coach

HIGHLANDERS FC today unveiled former Zimbabwe Saints coach Bongani Mafu as Kelvin Kaindu’s successor.Mafu’s assistants are still to be named as the new coach and the club are still in discussion.

Mafu, a holder of a UEFA B coaching badge, got the nod from the Highlanders executive after plans to hire a foreign coach were shelved.

Mafu had a stint with Botswana’s Gaborone United. His best achievement to date remains guiding Chikwata to a second place finish in the Zimbabwe Premier League 13 years ago.

In the UK he has been head coach at Sherborne Town where he won titles with the Under 16s and Under 18s teams. He has also been in charge of Gillingham seniors. – by Stanford Chiwanga Zimpapers Online
