ZIFA Southern Region Division One clubs should brace for midweek games as the league pushes to clear a fixture backlog. Jabulani Chinyangarara, Zifa Southern Region board-member responsible for fixtures, said clubs that had played more games are likely to get some weekends off as they wait for other teams to play the same number of matches.

Mid-table Talen Vision have played nine games, by far the most matches, while ZRP Bulawayo have only played four. Log leaders Amagagasi have played seven games and are on 19 points, just one point above Bantu Rovers and ZPC Hwange. Rovers have played seven matches and ZPC Hwange eight.

Fourth placed side Bulawayo Chiefs are on 13 points from five games and have been inactive for two weeks following a road accident they were involved in a fortnight ago that left the bulk of their players injured.

“June will be a hectic month for most teams as they will have to play catch-up through midweek games. We want the teams to be level in terms of matches played by the end of June and after that we believe we will have a smooth programme,” said Chinyangarara.

Six teams will be involved in midweek games tomorrow.

Black Boots, who drew 1-1 with ZRP Hwange on Sunday, will be home to ZRP Bulawayo at Fairbridge, while Bosso 90, who were clobbered 0-3 by Rovers, will take on army side Indlovu Iyanyathela at HQ One Brigade.

Indlovu Iyanyathela lost 0-1 to Ntabazinduna at the weekend.

Casmyn are back on the road to Hwange to face table anchors Makomo. Casmyn lost 0-1 to ZPC Hwange on Saturday, while Makomo drew 0-0 against Hwange Juniors.
