grounded.
We all are coming from somewhere.
We all have had certain experiences.
Perhaps you have suffered heartbreak.
Perhaps you once were doing well but things fell apart. Perhaps you carry the guilty of having hurt someone or caused his or her suffering.
Perhaps you lost something that was valuable or you did something and you cannot forgive yourself for.
All these are possible events of life that are natural.
In most cases these instances are not a product of our bad nature, but in most cases the inexperience of youth, or immaturity.
The things we may have done out of lack of wisdom and understanding. We really know that given another experience we can do better but you still cannot get it of your mind.
These are experiences I have met personally and in my life coaching clients, struggling with a past mistake, misfortune or mishap.
Today I have something to say to you. Stop living out of your past or history, live out of your imagination.
Constantly thinking or imagining a good past does not bring a better future.
Constantly dwelling in self-condemnation and blame only weakens you and blocks your eyes from seeing the opportunities around you.
No matter how good or bad it was, the past should be put where it belongs, behind you.
I know it’s not easy because there are challenges, I know forgetting takes a great deal of time, but the starting point is to forgive yourself and others.
If you can do that, one burden is lifted from your shoulders and you begin to think straight.
Imagine a new status quo. Imagine a new situation, be it at your home, organisation or in personal life circumstances.
The scars of history do not need any glory because if you glorify them, they become new again and you feel the pain.
The fact that you were once demoted from a position does not mean you will never become a good leader.
You may have been demoted but make sure it does not happen again now and in the future.
Use your imagination to create the life you want.
History has closed many doors or avenues for people, it has hardened many, and has made monsters out of many.
Many today cannot trust anyone with their business, family and hearts because of previous experiences.
Inasmuch as there is need for caution, there is what I call functional trust – the trust that is needed for you to continue living.
Just so that you can work, lead or stay with them. When that is gone, one tragically lives a lonely life, becoming a hermit.
They want the interaction but they are afraid of ghosts of the past.
Just imagine the future you want. Let that picture of the ideal life, the ideal you, the ideal business dominate what you think about.
Let it feel your mind, let it dominate your thoughts.
Get rid of the burdens of a failed past and focus on the possibilities of the present and future.
Commit to change your focus, stop focusing on what you have been but rather on what you can be.
Stop focusing on what you once had, but rather on what you can have.
Stop focusing on how good things used to be, but rather on how good things can be.
Feel your mind with the promise and possibilities ahead of you.
Begin to dwell in them, imagine your new life most of the time, begin to believe in it and it shall be.
Most of the time we act on our constant thoughts and our beliefs shape our paradigm, our attitude and ultimately our behaviour.
Change your focus, live for the future and not the past especially if there are so many things to forget and bury.
No matter how bad your history is, life still gives a second chance. You may have messed up as a leader and this does not mean you are done, learn new and effective behaviour and get on with life.
It’s too early to write yourself off, pull yourself up and get back to your business, your ministry, your home and family and you can love again and hope for a better future.
Live out your imagination and not your history.
Stop imagining how things could have been, but how they can be now.
Do not give up on life.
Hope you were inspired.
Be the best!
