Former Midlands provincial Governor and Zanu-PF Politburo member Dr Cephas Msipa has called on the Zanu-PF members who lost in the primary elections to set aside individual grudges and forge a united front to ensure that Zanu-PF wins the election.

In an interview, Dr  Msipa said the harmonised election scheduled for 31 July were a do-or-die election and urged Zimbabweans to work together to “defeat the enemy”.

Dr Msipa said he was leading by example by going to Zvishavane where he would be calling for meetings between the winning and losing party candidates, so that they work together for Zanu-PF’s resounding victory.

“Primaries are over. Yes, there might be some grievances especially from those who lost the election but what is important now is for both the winners and the losers to join hands and work together for a Zanu-PF victory. What is important is for the party to win this do or die election. We should be worried about defeating the enemy and not defeating each other in the primary elections,” he said.

Dr Msipa said he was leading the campaign in Zvishavane, his home area and has since met the losing Zanu-PF candidate for Zvishavane-Ngezi constituency, Cde Obert Matshalaga and Cde John Holder who emerged victorious.

“I arranged a meeting for Cde Holder and Cde Matshalaga and the meeting was very fruitful with the two parties pledging to work together so that the party could be victorious. Our main agenda now is for the party to win and we have since forgotten about the primary elections, this should be the mindset for every patriotic Zimbabwean if we are to win this election resoundingly,” he said.

Dr Msipa said he would soon hold a meeting in the Zvishavane- Runde constituency.
Cde Fred Moyo emerged victorious in primary elections for Zvishavane-Runde constituency beating Cde Larry Mavima who was the incumbent MP.

Dr Msipa said the focus now was to make sure that Zanu-PF retains the two seats in Zvishavane.
“My wish is to see the two Zvishavane seats being retained by the Zanu-PF party and I am working together with all the structures so that we defeat the enemy,” he said.
