Macheso to officially reopen Pamuzinda

joints, Pamuzinda Highway Xscape, seem to have come to an end amid revelations that the owner has now taken over the joint.
For the past three years, the venue has been changing hands, a development that also resulted in the decline of its services.
But it appears poor management and lucklustre entertainment may soon be a thing of the past, when the Chiragas take over the joint once again.
Pamuzinda marketing and communications manager Tawanda Chiraga confirmed the development.
“The Chiragas are now running the joint, which we had been leasing out in the last three years due to other commitments,” he said.
Because of the break, Tawanda said they have worked out an exciting entertainment package to cater for the discerning reveller.
“When we came into the industry some years back, we realised that Zimbabwe was full of revellers who never tire of merry-making, provided it is good quality entertainment.
“We sought to achieve that and it happened. Pamuzinda became an instant hit with patrons who wanted to listen to old skool in a serene environment,” he said.
And true to Tawanda’s word, the joint will open its doors to revellers with a high-octane sungura show, where Alick Macheso is expected to thrill fans.
After conquering South Africa last week, the nimble- footed sungura musician makes a return to the popular joint that weaned him into a household name.
“We have had good relationship with Alick over the years, and he is one of many Zimbabwean musicians who have popularised the joint.
“Therefore, there can never be a better official opening than this,” said Tawanda.
The “Tafadzwa” hit-maker will descend on the joint tonight before taking his act to his backyard at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex tomorrow.
This is not the first time that “Extrabasso” has held his comeback shows at Pamuzinda.
The venue – as well as the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex – has played host to almost all his homecoming shows.
Being the faithful “artiste of the people” that he is, the bassist has never forgotten his legion of Chitungwiza fans who have supported him over the years.
The artiste will wind up his weekend outings with an afternoon gig at the Harare Gardens on Sunday for what is largely regarded as a family show.
As has become the norm, Progress Chipfumo and Tryson Chimbetu will be the supporting acts.
Chipfumo needs no introduction to the mainstream music scene having climbed up the music ladder after leading the now-defunct Hohodza Hot Band to dizzy heights.
The talented artiste, however, found the right formula when he decided to go solo and formed his Sounds of the Motherland band.
He unleashed a number of hits like “Mangerengere” and “Tsiurika” among others, which won the hearts of many music lovers.
Tryson, on the other hand, has been on a steady rise after taking over from his late father Naison Chimbetu.
The young musician – who has two albums to his name – has proved to be a real chip off the old block in the way that he sings not only like his father but also his uncle and Dendera music founder, the late Simon “Chopper” Chimbetu.
