A DOMESTIC worker allegedly held a knife to her employer’s 13-year-old daughter’s throat while a man who had paid her R100 raped the child.The alleged crime came to light after the minor’s prophet uncle “prophesied” at a church service that his niece had been raped.

Lethukuthula Moyo, 19 , and Doom Lios Vundla , 34, from Msingwana line in Tsholotsho pleaded not guilty to rape when they appeared before regional magistrate Sikhumbuzo Nyathi.

The minor’s grandmother told the court: “The offence came to light after her uncle prophesied that she had been raped, he, however, did not mention names. The child later revealed the offence on our way home from church, leading to the arrest of the two.” She said the girl revealed that she had intended to tell her after church as she had missed the chance to tell her on their way to church.

Prosecuting, Masimba Saruwaka told the court that on March 1 this year at around 1PM Vundla allegedly offered the minor girl  R100 but she refused to take the money. “He then approached Moyo and gave her the R100 so that she could facilitate a love affair between him and the girl,” alleged Saruwaka.

The State alleged that on the same day at around 7PM, Moyo took an okapi knife and placed it under a pillow before retiring to bed.

“Vundla then arrived at the juvenile’s place of residence an hour later and entered the bedroom hut where Moyo and the girl were sleeping.

“While inside, he lit a candle and began fondling the girl’s breasts while she was asleep.”

Saruwaka told the court that the girl screamed and Moyo took the knife and allegedly threatened to kill her if she screamed again.

“Vundla then allegedly forcibly removed the girl’s tights and panties, forced her to open her legs and raped her once.”

After the act, he allegedly threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the horrific incident.

The matter came to light during the church service leading to the duo’s arrest.

The girl was referred to Tsholotsho District Hospital for medical examination.

Vundla was remanded in custody to October 9 while Moyo was remanded out of custody.
