HWANGE army side Moto Moto’s guns fired blanks the whole afternoon last Saturday after they were ruthlessly mauled 7-1 by a rampant Victoria Falls Tigers. The two teams’ clash at Chinotimba Stadium produced the most shocking result of the Zifa Matabeleland North league weekend fixtures.

Moto Moto, who had gunned down six opponents in a row before being bombarded in the resort town, travelled back to Hwange with their heads down following the shattering defeat.

It was a case of an early Christmas for Tigers who scored through Alberto Lunga (hat trick), Chrispen Nyoni (brace) and a goal apiece from Shepherd Gadzikwa and Thabani Ndlovu while Shaibar Dimingu scored the consolation goal in an afternoon the entire troop of soldiers went to sleep and left the whole camp unguarded.

Makomo FC put themselves in the comfort zone at the top of the log after they hammered Zambezi Lions 3-1 at Chinotimba Stadium to complete a double over their opponents.

Tyson Muzamba banged a hat trick with Terence Kudenga chipping in with other goal.

Shylock Makumwende reduced the arrears for the toothless Lions.

ZRP Hwange maintained their third position slot when they edged Hwange Under-17 courtesy of goals by Denzil Kutadza and Bruce Mathe while Milton Nyangu reduced the arrears for Hwange Under-17s who have turned into the league’s punch bags.

Fire FC completed a double over Corinthians with a 2-0 victory at Madumabisa Stadium with a brace by Blessing Mhlanga making all the difference.

At Chakona, Ingagula and resurgent Brazil shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

On Sunday at Lwendulu Stadium, the derby between Iwisa and Blackrock again could not produce a winner as the teams settled for another goalless draw.

Blackrock’s coach Tichaona Mfandaedza should thank young goalkeeper Leadnolious Bhila, a Form Four pupil at Hwange High School for pulling off some stunning saves throughout the game to earn his side a precious point.

Another duel between Prison Eagles and Baobab Rovers also ended goalless.

In Victoria Falls, Amagagasi fans watched in agony and disbelief as Classic Luyando prevailed 1-0 over their team courtesy of a Moffat Ncube strike which left Amagagasi four points way from Makomo.

Meanwhile, Moto Moto FC are hosting a fundraising dinner this Saturday as part of efforts to raise funds to be used in catering for the day-to-day needs of the club.

Major Thabolwethu Dube confirmed the event will be held at Camp 2 in Hwange.

“We are hosting a fundraising dinner on Saturday starting at 6pm and we have extended invitations to other clubs, the Hwange business community and other corporate partners as we hope to raise  funds for the team which we want to be more competitive.

The boys have done well this season besides last weekend’s shocker but we hope we can motivate them to rise higher and qualify for Division One football soon,” he said.
