HOW Mine caretaker coach, Jeremiah Makota says he did not submit his CV to the club management for consideration for the substantive coaching job because he still wants to learn the ropes. Former Warriors mentor, Rahman Gumbo, Kelvin Kaindu, Warriors gaffer Calisto Pasuwa and Madinda Ndlovu are believed to have applied for the How Mine coaching job which was left vacant following the sacking of Luke Masomere during the season.

Makota took charge of the last eight games but failed to win a single match, managing four draws and as many losses. “We were just unfortunate not to have gotten any results when I took over because the boys were playing very good football but the results couldn’t come.

“In terms of play it was ok but the results were just not forthcoming. “I didn’t apply for the coaching job because I’m still learning. I’ll be very happy if someone comes and I work with him because I’ll gain experience from him,” he said.

The gold miners had an unforgettable season especially after being touted as one of the championship favourites during the off season after going on a shopping spree where they swooped some of the league’s big players.

Some of the major signings made by How Mine included the former Dynamos duo of Devon Chafa and Tawanda Muparati, Charles Sibanda, soccer star of the year finalist Limited Chikafa and former Highlanders goalkeeper, Munyaradzi Diya among others.

Meanwhile, club captain, Gilbert Banda said the side would atone for the indifferent season and he will challenge for honours with the club next season.

“Of course it was disappointing to say the least especially if you look at the players that we had at the club. “I still have a contract running with the club and the only thing that I would want to do is to win the championship with them next season,” he said.
