A MAN from Magwegwe in Bulawayo was on Saturday afternoon found hanging from the trusses of a house he rented, in an apparent suicide after  an argument with his ex-wife.
Nkululeko Ncube, 34, allegedly hanged himself using a neck tie and an electric cable and left a suicide note declaring that his former wife, Nobuhle Moyo owed him $5,000.  His family suspect he was beaten under his feet as they were swollen.

Loveness Nkomo, a tenant at the house he rented said Ncube’s body was found by police who had come looking for him after a fight with his ex-wife.
“We last saw him entering his room carrying two bottles of beer. Later we were shocked when the police told us that he hanged himself,” she said.

Moyo said they had an altercation in the morning which resulted in her reporting him to the police.
“The previous night he came to the house I rent making noise and he confiscated my particulars including passport, birth certificate and money. He broke window panes before he left,” she said.

Moyo said she met Ncube on Saturday morning and he told her that she was nothing as he held all her important documents.
“We started quarrelling and I reported him to the police. He then followed me to the police station where he surrendered my documents and asked to go and get my money from his house,” said Moyo.

She said Ncube did not return forcing police to go after him. “The police later found him hanging from the trusses having left a suicide note claiming that I owed him $5,000,” said Moyo.

The deceased’s uncle and family spokesperson Obrey Ncube said the family was still in a state of shock following the death.
“We are still coming to terms with what happened. We understand he left a suicide note but we are yet to see it. We have since requested that a postmortem be done to clear our suspicions. His feet were swollen and he seems to have been assaulted under the feet,” said Ncube.

Kenneth Ncube, a relative regretted the death.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo confirmed that a suspected case of suicide had been reported and investigations were underway.

“We received a report of sudden death of a 34-year-old man in Magwegwe in a suspected case of suicide and investigations are underway,” said Insp Moyo.
