A 41-YEAR-OLD Triangle man allegedly committed suicide by hanging recently following a dispute with his wife over infidelity allegations.Patrick Sihladima of Barracks Section in Triangle was found hanging from the roof of his bedroom by his 11-year-old daughter, a day after his wife Sizalokuhle Dube left their matrimonial home following a dispute over alleged cheating.

The couple have three children aged 11, eight and five years.

Acting Masvingo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nkululeko Nduna said Sihladima was found hanging in his bedroom at around 7AM on Monday.

He said postmortem was waived in the case.

“I can confirm a report of sudden death by hanging which happened in Triangle. No foul play is suspected and postmortem was waived,” said Asst Insp Nduna.

Sources say on Sunday at around 5:30 PM, Sihladima and Dube were at home when the man started interrogating his wife over her alleged extra-marital affairs.

“Sihladima accused Dube of engaging in extra marital affairs to which the latter professed ignorance leading to a heated dispute. It’s alleged Dube was seeing some men when her husband was away at work. Some of her lovers were alleged to be Sihladima’s workmates,” said a source.

Dube is alleged to have stormed out of the house, leaving her husband with their three children behind.

The source added that after Dube’s disappearance; Sihladima left his children in the kitchen and went into the bedroom saying he wanted to sleep. The children slept in the kitchen until the following morning.

“On Monday at around 7AM, the 11-year-old daughter knocked on the bedroom door where the father was sleeping but got no response.

“She then forced the door open, only to see the body of Sihladima hanging from the bedroom’s roof. The body had a nylon rope around the neck,” said another source.

The girl informed a neighbour, only identified as Dzingai who reported the matter to the police in Triangle.

Asst Insp Nduna appealed to people to seek counselling when they are having disputes instead of taking their own lives.

“I appeal to members of the public to seek counselling when they are having marital problems.

“They can use elders or neighbours to counsel them or come to police for counselling rather than committing suicide,” he said.
