A FOUR-men gang has been arrested in Bulawayo for allegedly attacking two men resulting in one of their victims losing an eye.

Muzukhona Ndlovu (23), Talent Mkwhebo (19), Lovejoy Mafu (18) and Brian Lunga (18), all from Mpopoma suburb, appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Stephen Ndhlovu facing two counts of assault.

They pleaded not guilty and were remanded out of custody to next Friday for trial.

Prosecuting, Mr Kenneth Shava said the four had an argument with Mr Arnold Dube and Mr Francis Ndlovu at Mathonisa Beer Garden in Mpopoma suburb on December 10 last year at around 11PM.

He said one of the accused persons slapped Mr Ndlovu and kicked him all over the body.

Mr Shava said Mr Dube was hit with an unknown object on the head and fell to the ground.

When Mr Ndlovu allegedly tried  to rescue him, he was assaulted by the four men.

Mr Ndlovu allegedly managed to escape and reported the matter to the police. He was referred to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.

Mr Shava said one of accused persons allegedly hit Mr Dube with an unknown object on the eye and it was permanently damaged.

A medical report produced as an exhibit in court indicated that Dube had suffered permanent disability.

“The eye was damaged completely and had to be removed,” reads part of the medical report which was compiled at the United Bulawayo Hospitals following the attack.
