A woman from Emganwini suburb in Bulawayo allegedly went berserk and stabbed her husband once on his right arm after he brought a girlfriend to their matrimonial home.

Sithabisile Dubazi, 39, was allegedly irked when her estranged husband, Alfred Mzizi, 51, brought his girlfriend to their place of residence while in the company of his brother and his wife.

Dubazi and Mzizi are on separation.

The woman appeared before magistrate Tancy Dube charged with physical abuse.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded out of custody to today for trial.

Prosecuting, Sibekithemba Dube said on Saturday at around 6PM, Mzizi went to his place of residence with his brother.

He said Mzizi was accompanied by his lover while his brother brought his wife.

“Upon arrival at the house, Dubazi, who already knew Mzizi’s girlfriend, got angry with the behaviour of her husband.

“She demanded to know why he had brought his girlfriend to their house,” said Dube.

Dubazi, the court heard, started punching Mzizi all over his body.

The man did not fight back.

“While assaulting Mzizi, Dubazi was also shouting that her husband was disrespectful.

“She said the man had disrespected her by bringing his girlfriend to their house,” said the prosecutor.

The court heard that Dubazi went to the kitchen where she took a knife that she used to stab Mzizi once on his right hand.

Dube told the court that Mzizi sustained a deep cut and a swollen forehead due to the assault.
