A 20-YEAR-OLD Filabusi man had to be rushed to the hospital with his intestines protruding after he was stabbed by a drinking mate following an altercation at a local night club.Thulani Dube, 18, allegedly ripped open Mlamuli Ndlovu’s stomach with a knife and left him for dead after Ndlovu’s friend reportedly spat into Dube’s opaque beer while they were drinking.

Dube appeared before magistrate Mzingaye Moyo at the Gwanda courts on Monday facing a charge of attempted murder.

Prosecuting, Smart Tafireyi said the three, who are all from Mthwakazi Township in Filabusi, were drinking beer at Cover Night Club sometime last week.

“Dube and Ndlovu were at Cover Night Club when they had an altercation after a certain man, who was alleged to be in the company of Ndlovu, spat into Dube’s beer,” said Tafireyi.

“An altercation ensued, resulting in Dube and Ndlovu dragging each other out of the bar and arguing for some time.  Dube produced a knife and stabbed Ndlovu several times in the stomach and left him lying on the ground in a pool of blood.”

Tafireyi said Ndlovu’s intestines protruded out of the stomach and he was rushed to Filabusi District Hospital where he was referred to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for treatment.

Dube was remanded in custody to August 8, 2014 and was advised to apply for bail, pending trial at the High Court.
