The launch will be held at Harare’s VIP Lounge where the Afro jazz sensation will perform alongside Bulawayo’s Cool Crooners, among other artistes.
The project, titled Rite of Passage, depicts an event that marks a person’s progress from one point to another.
The project has been an underground initiative Manhenga has been working on and it is set to elevate a number of artistes’ progress in their respective talents.

In an interview Manhenga said she had been working on the project for a long time and it was open to both male and female artistes.
Rite of Passage is a life-long project that I have dedicated to talented, but not yet established artistes. This is an ongoing initiative that I took time to work on and name,” she said.

Manhenga also said now  that the project had a name,  the next step was to create a platform for talented artistes   to showcase what they know best.
“Now that the project has been named, this is the time to guide talented artistes in their journey of becoming the best they can be.
“As a musician who has experienced a number of things in the industry, I now want to open the platform to youngsters. I will guide them so that they move in the right direction,”

said Manhenga who is also a music teacher.
The artiste who is a graduate of Zimbabwe Music College also said being in the arts industry was not a stroll in the park and many misguided artistes had wasted their talents due to lack of mentorship.

“Many up-and-coming artistes have wasted their talents due to lack of guidance. As a musician I do not want to be remembered for the good music I sing, but also for making a difference among fellow artistes,” said the jazz sensation.

Manhenga also said the official launch of the project would be graced by  some of the talented artistes already under the mentorship programme.
“Among them would be musician Zanele, a guitarist by the name David, Shadreck and the late Jackie Madondo’s sister,” she said.

Cool Crooners member, Abel Sithole said the band was raring to croon the night away and charm the audience with its cool tunes.
“We are ready for the performance and as always, we are set to deliver a splendid performance,” Sithole said.
