ZIFA Eastern region Division One outfit, Masvingo United, recorded their first win of the season in an emphatic fashion when they dispatched an out of sorts Chiredzi FC 5-1 in a match played at Mucheke Stadium on Sunday.

After a two-match losing streak, a number of soccer pundits had already written off the most supported team in Masvingo province and their quest for Premiership soccer return had started off badly.

While the emphatic win did little to improve the team’s league standing, Una Una as the team is known, seemed to have rekindled the lost pride and brought smiles to their fans. The Masvingo team is on position 10 in the three games played so far.

Newcomers Prime Rangers FC top the league after winning two games and drawing once followed by another Lowveld team, Mwenezana, who lost one nil away to Mutare City last week before beating Ruwa Gunners 2-0 over the weekend.
