A 14-member Matabeleland swimming team will take part in the National Sprint Swimming Championships in Mutare this evening.
The team is set to travel this morning for the two-day event. The team which includes five members of the Zimbabwe national provisional team that will represent the country in the upcoming Under-20 African Region Five Games, are set to clash with the country’s top swimmers expected to participate in the gala.

Andresious Cyprianos, Brendan Cyprianos, Mmelwa Netsha, Ashby Kink and Kisty Simon are the city swimmers in the Zimbabwe team.
Matabeleland Swimming Board spokesperson Joseph Gliwinski said the team was leaving early this monring as the tournament starts in the evening.

Gliwinski said the swimmers are from Crusaders, Penguins, Barham Green Dolphines and Baracuders.
He said they expect to win a number of medals because the selected swimmers have been doing very well.

“We did well last year and we expect a repeat this year,” he said.
