LOCAL celebrity Mbo Mahocs is set to rub shoulders with the who’s who of Mzansi showbiz as she will attend the much coveted Durban July that kicks off today in South Africa.

Durban’s Greyville Racecourse will be lit with a large array of SA stars, from house DJ Black Coffee and rapper AKA to veteran DJ Tira, bringing the heat to the coastal city’s winter. The artistes will perform at the sold out Afrotainment Marque in the evening of the Durban July.

This year’s theme is “Leader of the pack” and with fashion being synonymous with the July, designers and models will also be at the racecourse, showing off beautiful tailor-made garments. There are numerous fashion and design competitions, and the best-dressed race-day competitions add to the fun and glamour of the day.

Mbo Mahocs who relocated to South Africa some three months ago said she was excited to attend the annual fete and will be dressed by Mafikizolo’s Nhlanhla Nciza and Thembani Mubochwa.

“This is part of my way to network in South Africa, get my name out there so that I can land television jobs. Nhlanhla Nciza has been my fashion icon; I like how she dresses and her fashion style. So I’ll be dressed by her and also by an equally talented Thembani Mubochwa,” said Mbo Mahocs.

She said she will be accompanied by global citizen Gilmore Tee and would attend the Durban Fashion Fair hosted Fashion on the Racetrack.

We expect at least two million people within the whole fun season because there is going to be jobs that are created, over 940 jobs. Temporary and sustainable jobs because the different tourism products from accommodation, entertainment, restaurants are actually going to be benefiting in that regard,” said Mntungwa.
