FC Platinum shotstopper Petros Mhari has said he decided against a move to Dynamos after considering the stability and professionalism at his paymasters.Dynamos made overtures for the goalkeeper who was in top form last season and was expected to provide cover to Artwell Mukandi after that club’s second choice goalie, Tatenda Mukuruva, had indicated that he would be leaving for the United States during the off-season.

For his sterling performance last season Mhari was named the most consistent player by the platinum miners during the club’s awards presentation banquet held in Zvishavane on Wednesday night.

He also collected the club’s player of the tournament in the Chibuku Super Cup which the club won and both awards carried $2,250 in prizemoney.

The FC Platinum goalkeeper said he would only consider a move from the platinum miners if an offer from a foreign club comes through.

“It is true that Dynamos approached me asking for my services but I turned them down because of many reasons chief among them the stability which we have at FC Platinum. I did not want a move where my future would be uncertain, a situation which would distract me.

“I like the professionalism here and the stability at this club and this keeps one focused on his job. The only time I will consider leaving FC Platinum is when an offer from a foreign club comes through,” he said.

He said winning the awards motivated him ahead of the new season. He said he was also excited that his club was participating in the African Caf Confederation Cup where the club takes on Sofapaka of Kenya in the preliminary round in two weeks’ time.

“This is my first time to be acknowledged like this and this has motivated me to do more. I will put my best show this season and I hope to help the team to reach at least the mini league stage and anything that would come after that would be a bonus for us,” he said.
