The event being held at the Midlands Hotel will see top artistes including Peter Moyo, DJ Stavo, Mathias Mhere, Goodchild, Nasty Tricks and Gift Amuli among others vying for various awards in 20 categories. Voting is underway on the MMA Facebook page.

Artistes such as Sharon Manyika and Shingai Mangoma are already winners as they are uncontested in the two categories they were nominated in – Best Female Gospel Artiste and Best Jazz/Afro-Pop female artiste respectively.

Guests who will attend will be expected to dress for the occasion as it is a red carpet event being hosted by Image Modelling Agency in conjunction with Midlands Hotel.

ZiFM’s DJ Vivian “Vee” will be MC on the night while entertainment will be provided by Legion, Lewas Skattah and Soul Africa.

MMA events co-ordinator and vice chairlady        Mavis Korslek said the awards were being held to honour Midlands’ undiscovered and unappreciated talent.

“This award ceremony is to simply acknowledge and honour the musical excellence and creativity of our artistes here in the Midlands.
“It’s a high profile and multi-faceted celebration of the rich cultural diversity in our province.  We want Zimbabwe to know that Midlands has talent,” she said.

Korslek lamented how local talent had been neglected and ignored particularly in the Midlands.
