MIGHTY Stars continued on their unbeaten path with a 33-29 win over long time rivals ZRP in the Matabeleland South Netball Gwanda Region league on Saturday.Mighty Stars have not beaten ZRP in four encounters. The results have however been very close.

John Dube, the spokesperson for the Matabeleland South netball body said the match attracted a good crowd.

Mighty stars goal defender Beatitude Ngwenya and goal keeper Blessing Maseko were in top form stopping ZRP shooters from finding the target while ZRP’s Melody Mabhonga did a remarkable job of preventing Mighty Stars shooter Davirai Chineka from getting her team a large margin win.

Top umpire Hlupheko Moyo handled the match well.

Organising secretary of the Matabeleland South Netball League and Mighty Stars coach Lynot Ndlovu said, “The standard of netball in the region has improved and the derby between Mighty Stars and ZRP was played in a gamely atmosphere.”

Ndlovu also disclosed that there would be a mid season tournament to be hosted by Filabusi on September 12.

“The tournament is for both registered and not registered clubs. Everyone is welcome to come and participate,” said Ndlovu.
