THE Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ)’s 9th annual convention expected to deliberate on a number of issues, starts here tomorrow.

The four-day event will run under the theme: “The changing face of marketing. Towards organisational and economic transformation”.

In a statement, MAZ secretariat said the convention would attract marketing and business professionals from diverse sectors of the economy who gather together to brain-storm on issues that affect their operations.

Industry and Commerce Minister, Dr Mike Bimha, would give a keynote address while Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Ray Ndhlukula and a number of executives from local and international organisations are also expected to address the convention.

Topics include national issues that affect policy making, the need for marketers to have a voice in national discourse, the marketing and public policy nexus and the role of marketers in influencing national policy as well as how internal marketing can be used as a strategic business tool to make employees live the brand promise.

“As the year started the association embarked on an integration strategy after realising the need to incorporate all facets of marketing.

“As a result more topics to do with digital marketing, public relations, customer service and sales are being weaved into events, publications and training so as to appeal to the broad category of marketers,” said MAZ.

Participants will also deliberate on the state of marketing in Zimbabwe and the roadmap towards establishing a legal statute.

There will also be talk about the Special Economic Zones and the challenges faced by marketers in their bid to generate foreign currency through exports.
