THE Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs Cde Abedinico Ncube’s son, Macbeth, who attended court drunk on Monday, had his malicious damage to property charges withdrawn yesterday, but was remanded out of custody to stand trial next week for assault.

Macbeth, 33, appeared before Gwanda magistrate Sheila Nazombe to answer to charges of assaulting Thulani Moyo.

He was remanded out of custody to June 8 for trial.

Macbeth, who was also facing charges of malicious damage to property after he allegedly broke a glass door at a shop in Gwanda Town when he was assaulting Moyo, had the malicious damage to property charges withdrawn by Wellington Kwashira, 32.

Asked by the magistrate why he had decided to withdraw the matter, Kwashira said Macbeth had asked for forgiveness.

“Your Worship, the accused person approached me and apologised.

“He also replaced the broken glass door,” said Kwashira.

Macbeth who had pleaded not guilty, had the charges against him withdrawn.

The matter was supposed to be withdrawn on Monday but Nazombe remanded Macbeth in custody to yesterday for coming to court drunk.

She warned him against disrespecting the court by attending while intoxicated.
