MISRED quickly made a name for herself as co-anchor of ZiFM Stereo’s breakfast show, The Ignition, when she replaced top personality, Tinopona Katsande in October 2013.Zimbabweans immediately fell in love with her voice and her ability to balance out one of the country’s biggest radio personalities, co-anchor, Tonderai ‘TK’ Katsande. Then she started making appearances at acclaimed international events and fans fell for her beauty and effusive nature.

Last week, she launched her website — www.misred.com and made some bold statements about where she was taking her career: “I’d like to be an international brand, and if I can’t impress my home country, I don’t stand a chance on an international level.”

Known to her family as Samantha Mussa, MisRed says having a website is a key part of the journey to being an international brand.

“During the build up to my website, I did extensive research about how international celebrities handle themselves and we’re way below standard as Zimbabwean celebs.

“Most of us don’t have websites and even the images that are available are mediocre. I didn’t understand the saying, ‘You’ve to spend money to make money.’ Photo shoots, website designers and staff all cost money, but I realised that as much as I’ve the talent, I need a team that can package me well,” says a statement on her new site.

Asked what she hoped to achieve through the site, the mother of one said: “For any brand to grow, it requires a platform, and this is the digital age so the interface that’ll allow people access to me and vice versa is hopefully this site. I hope it’ll give everyone who wants to communicate with me, a direct channel to do so.”

The radio personality defines herself as “A young woman still trying to find her way around the Road of Life! I’m a work in progress but the best is yet to come!

“As I venture on this journey to stardom, I’m finding people along the way that can help push my brand further and I don’t mind paying the price for it.”

Asked how life has changed for her since her radio debut, MisRed said: “Feels like it was just yesterday. In a lot of ways it’s opened my world to countless possibilities and even more fascinating people. ZiFM has given me a direct platform to hear what people are thinking, feeling and experiencing. I’m growing continuously and ZiFM has been a catalyst to that growth.”

In the last two years she has carved out a niche for herself as an MC, fashionista and PR consultant. She is sought after as a model for shoots and has started pushing on the TV front as a host for the weekly ZBC musical show, Coke on the Beat.

She has two other TV projects in the pipeline, one for the Zimbabwean audience and another for regional screening.

“Another hopeful milestone is to get syndicated. If I can grow my platform into a regional one, that would be amazing and finally to have the MisRed brand become synonymous with succinct thought, effective advocacy and humble elegance,” MisRed said. — ZimboJam.
