The Miss World Zimbabwe finalists will be unveiled today at a sashing ceremony taking place at the Miss Zimbabwe Trust offices in Harare. The 15 finalists who arrived in Harare yesterday from Victoria Falls will spend their last week of boot camp in the capital city ahead of the finals taking place next week Saturday in Shamva.

Miss Zimbabwe Trust spokesperson, Tendai Chirau said all was set for the sashing ceremony which would be graced by the trust’s patron — Kiki Divaris.

“We’re happy with the quality of models we received this year. Our hope is to crown a probity queen and we’re confident we’ll do just that, come April 25,” Chirau said.

The finalists are Nokulunga Nyathi, Nicolleta Nyathi, Bionica Chipanje, Hilda Mabu, Rairo Gunguwo, Annie-Grace Mutambu, Emily Kachote, Vanessa Mbedzi, Melody Chitsungo, Vanessa Mutemasango, Melody Muza, Daphney Kuzvidza, Chengetai Kanonhuwa and Panashe Pfende.

Chirau said invites to the Miss World Zimbabwe finale taking place at the Mermaids Pool in Shamva under the theme: “Probity” could be bought at the Miss Zimbabwe Trust offices.

“There’re no tickets to the finale as we’re issuing out invites. Those interested in attending the finale can buy invites for $300 at the La Chelle offices,” he said.

The finalists will undergo rigorous catwalk training, visit charity institutions and national monuments for the better part of next week in preparation for the final day. Tomorrow, they will have their first public appearance when they join the rest of the nation in celebrating the country’s independence at the National Sports Stadium.

Chirau said top South Africa-based Zimbabwean designer, Sperro Villioti who has been tasked to dress the models was expected in the country tomorrow to work on designs for their evening wear.

Entertainment at the finale will be provided by Leonard Zhakata and Trevor Dongo.

The lady who will be crowned queen will earn herself a spot at the Miss World finale among other prizes which are yet to be revealed.
