IDOLS East Africa 2008 winner Eric Moyo could be heading down south at the end of the year to join South Africa’s Joyous Celebration choir.
Joyous Celebration co-founder – Lindelani Mkhize who was in the country over the weekend, said he wanted another Zimbabwean on the Joyous Celebration Choir and had identified Moyo. Mkhize said the two lost contact at the time he wanted to engage Moyo to join their choir. This left Mkhize with no option but to rope in Idols East Africa runner up Mkhululi Bhebhe who was readily available. Bhebhe is still with the choir, adding flavour, leading them in singing Shona hymns including Tambira Jehovah and Ichokwadi.

Mkhize was a happy man on Sunday after meeting Moyo at a Bulawayo hotel.
“I met Moyo three years ago when he was in South Africa. I had for a long time wanted a Zimbabwean on the Joyous Choir and I thought Moyo was the perfect person to take up that role,” he said.

Mkhize said he however lost contact with Moyo when he returned to Zimbabwe but he later made contact with Bhebhe.
“I think it was Bhebhe’s time to be on the choir. I will defiantly take his details and we shall sit down and hammer out contractual issues, but I promise you we shall have him on Joyous Celebration in December,” he said.

Questioned on what role Moyo would play in the choir, Mkhize said he would take one of Moyo’s songs and rework it for a live performance by him.
Moyo was at a loss for words at this new development but refused to shed more light saying he wanted to first sit down and iron out a contract with Mkhize.

If all goes according to plan, Moyo will be part of the Joyous Celebration live CD and DVD recording from December 20 to 21.
