LOG leaders MSU travel to Kwekwe for a tricky encounter against army outfit Tongogara in a Zifa Central Soccer League match today. The encounter is likely to put the Varsity Sharks’ unbeaten run in the league under threat as Tongogara remain unbeaten at their base this season.

MSU and surprise packets ZPC Munyati are the only unbeaten teams in the Central Soccer League this season and the Gweru-based side’s gaffer, Joseph Michael, conceded that it would be a tough match.

“It is going to be a difficult match as Tongogara have been playing well lately and their position on the log is testimony.

“We’ll therefore be cautious but we hope that at the end of the day we will come out with maximum points,” said Michael whose side is at the summit of the log standings with 13 points from 5 games.

The college students also have a game in hand and will be looking to former Shabanie Mine striker Farai Mususunye for goals.

Mususunye has so far scored four goals in five games and has formed a formidable partnership with attacking linkman Morlet Sithole, who has already been on target twice.

After a sluggish start to the season, Tongogara have picked themselves up following a green patch that could halt the students’ steady march.

A win for the Kwekwe-based army side will see them storming into the top four from eighth position on 10 points, three adrift of the log leaders.

Tongogara coach Ignatius Kapitapita could not be reached for comment but the former premiership outfit’s chairman, Khotso Malumeja, said they’re looking at collecting maximum points.

Elsewhere, Shabanie Mine, who beat Border Strikers 2-0 in their last outing, will be looking to continue with their rich vein of form and collect their first set of maximum points away when they travel to Kwekwe for a date with newcomers Ivan Hoe at Amaveni.
