HIGHLANDERS’ defender Eric Mudzingwa is in South Africa for a one-week trial stint at Absa Premiership side Baroka FC.

Mudzingwa will be hoping to impress coach Kgoloko Thobejane during his assessment that started on Monday.

Highlanders’ secretary-general Emmett Ndlovu said they were happy to see some of their players attracting foreign interest.

“I can confirm the player is in South Africa for trials with Baroka FC. As a club, it is in our best interests that we see players grow in soccer. It has always been our policy that if anyone gets a chance to play for another team we won’t stand in their way, especially when it’s outside the country. We want to see our players playing outside the country because we will never satisfy their football career here. Should he impress during his assessment, we won’t hold him back,” said Ndlovu.

Mudzingwa joined Bosso in 2006 and has played an integral part in the team adding the necessary steel and experience in central defence.

Mudzingwa is the third Bosso player to go for trials in South Africa during the off-season break.

The duo of striker Prince Dube and defender Peter Muduhwa underwent a week-long assessment at Bidvest Wits and are awaiting the outcome.
