MULTICHOICE Zimbabwe is reducing the monthly subscription fees across all DStv bouquets, starting November 1. MultiChoice Zimbabwe Chief executive officer Lovemore Mangwende, said the price drop, which ranges between 11 and 21 percent, was to ensure viewers get value for their money.

“The price decrease and increase in channels demonstrates our commitment to ensuring DStv customers receive the best possible access to great entertainment at an outstanding value,” said Mangwende.

He said all bouquets including Premium, Compact Plus, Compact and Family would also have a content upgrade. For DStv Premium, subscribers will now have to pay $72, down from $92. Eleven new HD channels have been added onto this bouquet in order to ensure that the premium subscribers have real value for their money.

DStv Compact Plus will now be priced at $47, down from $55 with eight new channels – Vuzu AMP, Lifetime, Discovery channel, Crime & Investigation, History channel, Africa Magic Showcase and a ROK – a channel which will bring the best of Nollywood content.

DStv Compact Plus will be injected with extra sports content with the addition of more Uefa Champions League matches alongside the best European Football leagues and the Europa league on SuperSport 6 (SS6).

With a 12 percent price drop, DStv Compact will now be priced at $28 from $32 and will retain the previous addition of the Premier League and La Liga earlier this year.

In addition ITV Choice (123) will be added as well as movie channel – TCM (137) and ROK. DStv Family is now $17 from $21 with an addition of two channels Eva (141) for telenovelas from Latin America and FOX (125). The announcement by MultiChoice marks a major change for DStv Zimbabwe which has consistently been called out for expensive content especially considering their annual price increases.
