TWO Bulilima siblings and their cousin have appeared in court for allegedly stabbing an 18-year-old man to death with a knife during a fight over a stolen cap.

Image Ndlovu (22), his brother Pretorius (28) and their cousin Proud Ncube (26) all of Mbembenene Village were not asked to plead when they appeared briefly before Plumtree magistrate, Mr Taurai Manwere facing a murder charge.

They were all remanded in custody to October 4 in connection with the murder of Pardon Mvundla.

The stolen cap belonged to the deceased’s friend, Mr Urgent Moyo.

Mr Manwere advised the two siblings and their cousin to apply for bail at the High Court.

Prosecuting, Mr Charles Nyatsine said the three men got engaged in a fight with the deceased on September 17 at Khame Business Centre and in the process one of them stabbed Mvundla in the chest with a knife.

“The three men were drinking at Khame Enterprises Supermarket in Khame Business Centre around 2AM where a band was also playing. A fight broke out after a group of men who were also at the same venue stole a cap from Mr Urgent Moyo and refused to return it.

“This resulted in a commotion at the supermarket as Mr Moyo and his friends tried to locate the people who had taken his cap. They also confronted a group of men that were standing with the three accused persons over the missing cap and started fighting with them,” he said.

Mr Nyatsine said Mvundla questioned the three accused persons over the matter and they assaulted him. He said one of them produced an Okapi knife and stabbed Mvundla in the chest.

Mvundla was rushed to Lady Bering Hospital in Ndolwane, but died while receiving treatment.

The three men fled from the scene after committing the offence but were later apprehended.
