WISDOM Mutasa’s dreams of playing for Dynamos hit another snag yesterday after it emerged that the midfielder had been issued with a wrong clearance by his former club ZPC Kariba. On Thursday, Mutasa was cleared by ZPC Kariba only for Dynamos to learn that the player cannot be registered by the Premier Soccer League as he was cleared to play for his parent club Aces Academy and not the Glamour Boys.

Mutasa was on loan at the Kariba side but has since left the club to join Harare giants. According to the rules, a player is supposed to be cleared by the club he last featured for.

Last night there were frantic efforts between the clubs involved so that ZPC Kariba issued another letter to enable Mutasa to play for DeMbare. “We need a clearance from the last club he played for. It is a straight forward letter which can say we have cleared him from ZPC Kariba to a club of his choice or mention the club which in this case is Dynamos,” said PSL chief executive Kenny Ndebele.

“That is very important so that double registration is avoided. So they have to get the correct clearance, a direct clearance because ZPC Kariba are still expected to surrender his ZPC Kariba licence as he would be issued with a Dynamos licence once he is registered.”

Dynamos team manager, Richard Chihoro, said they were concerned with the setbacks stalking their adventure.

“It’s been some time since the player joined Dynamos but he hasn’t featured in any match so far and it really disturbing,” said Chihoro.

The Glamour Boys are winless in their last five matches.

During that period they only managed to score one goal, last week’s consolation goal by Masimba Mambare.

Chihoro said they are looking forward to a home victory after they last won at Rufaro on July 10 when they beat Border Strikers 2-0.

“We want to win on Sunday. The players are confident, they are not affected by what has been going on. They say they are still in the race and believe the goals will eventually come.

“We have been polishing our strikeforce and we believe this weekend goals will be scored,” said Chihoro.

The club is still missing the defensive pair of Sydney Linyama and Elisha Muroiwa who are nursing injuries.

Bulawayo City interim coach, Try Ncube, said his men were in the capital to compete.

“We lost narrowly at home to Dynamos 1-0 but we are hopeful we will get a result.

“We know they are a good team, they will be playing at home and we respect them.

“The players are committed to the cause and they are not distracted by what happened (the match-fixing allegations) and, like it is said, one is innocent until proven guilty,” he said.

They will miss skipper, Xolisani Moyo, who is serving a one-match suspension, after accumulating three yellow cards.
